We provide comprehensive patient centered healthcare.
People who come to Diversity Healthcare can expect polite, friendly helpful staff members who relate to each person as an individual, recognizing their history, relationships, culture, sexual identity, and specific individual needs. Clay Reedy, APRN-C, is a mastered-educated adult nurse practitioner, with extensive experience in hospitals all over the USA, such as, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore Maryland, Sharp Memorial in San Diego California, Wilcox Medical Center in Kauai Hawaii, and Osceola Regional in Kissimmee Florida.
Our Health Center welcomes the opportunity to work with all individuals and their friends and families. The question is often asked: “How is primary care for the LGBTQIA+ community any different from care for everyone else?”. For the most part it isn’t. We conduct annual physicals, recommend standard preventive screening and immunizations, treat chronic illnesses with state-of-the-art and evidence-based protocols, prescribe common medications and strive to be available for same-day treatment of acute illnesses.
We welcome anyone who is seeking primary care to join our practice.
What may be different is that we can offer an office setting where one’s sexuality does not need to be hidden or is overlooked. There may be concerns about risk for infections, difficulties in relationships, or other personal concerns that need to be discussed without fear of judgment or lack of understanding. There are some differences in LGBTQIA+ care that are often overlooked in other settings. Screening for sexually transmissible infections is different for gay men than straight, including anal Paps which can detect HPV-related dysplasia or cancer. Preventive recommendations for transgender clients on hormone replacement need to focus on both preferred gender and birth gender biology. Often primary care clinicians not experienced nor familiar with these and other unique needs.
We therefore welcome any adult 18+ who is seeking primary care to join our practice.
